Juan García Avedillo
Juan García Avedillo is a Senior Associate in McKinsey & Company's Business Technology Office (BTO) based in Madrid, Spain. He joined the firm in February 2008.
At McKinsey, he has supported mainly multinational companies from telecommunications and financial sectors helping them in several areas: architecture definition (new business models adaptation), ADM functions optimization (defining process improvements and implementing lean methodologies), infrastructure consolidation (efficiency improvements and quality assurance), and provider consolidation (managing models and vendors consolidation).
Before joining McKinsey, Juan worked as an entrepreneur at his own company developing projects of renewable energies, industrial facilities, and technological consulting. Previously he worked as R&D project manager at a research foundation leading and coordinating international and intercompany projects.
Juan holds a DEA diploma (Diploma of advanced studies) and a M.Phil. diploma (first cycle of PhD) and is an industrial engineer of the University of Valladolid.
Thierry Bücheler
Thierry Bücheler is a Senior Associate in McKinsey & Company's Business Technology Office (BTO) in Zurich, Switzerland. He joined McKinsey in March 2006.
Thierry has served clients in six different industries and various functional areas in three language regions. Roughly 60 percent of his work so far was in business technology, 20 percent in strategy, and 20 percent in corporate finance, mainly on the buyer and seller sides of mergers and acquisitions. Before joining McKinsey, Thierry studied Computer Science and Business Administration at ETH Zurich and worked for two private banks in Switzerland as well as a researcher in Zurich and Tokyo.
Currently, Thierry just came back from an educational leave of absence pursuing a PhD in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Zurich. In his spare time, he likes to entertain crowds as a club DJ and practice sports with friends.
Jeroen Duin
Jeroen Duin is an Engagement Manager in McKinsey & Company's Business Technology Office (BTO) in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He joined the firm in March 2008 and focuses on the public sector and on financial services.
Jeroen was senior manager at Deloitte in New York, before he started working at McKinsey. At Deloitte he was responsible for process improvement and led an international business intelligence team. Jeroen also worked as a technical consultant for IBM CrossWorlds and coordinated several enterprise application integration projects in the United States.
Jeroen studied Policy Analysis and Information Technology at Delft University of Technology. He completed part of this program at Heinz School of Public Policy (Carnegie Mellon University) in the United States. In addition, Jeroen obtained an MBA degree from IMD in Switzerland.
Joske van Gils
Joske van Gils is a Fellow in McKinsey & Company's Business Technology Office (BTO) in Amsterdam, Netherlands. She joined in January 2011.
Since joining McKinsey, Joske served several clients in different industries, from high-tech operations to IT strategy in South Africa and from developing energy scenarios in Europe to sizing a specific pharmaceuticals market worldwide. Joske holds a bachelor's degree in Physics from Delft University of Technology and a master's degree in Physics from Imperial College London.
In her spare time, Joske enjoys music and sports. Currently she spends quite some hours on her bike as she will cycle up the Alpe d'Huez six times in one day to raise money to support cancer research.
Stéphane Rey
Stéphane Rey is a Principal in McKinsey & Company's Business Technology Office (BTO) in Switzerland and is based in Geneva. Stéphane serves mainly telecoms operators and banks across Europe, with an emphasis on technology-related topics. He is an active member of McKinsey’s Telecoms, Media, and Technology (TMT) and IT Architecture Practices, and co-leads the IT in Telecoms Initiative.
Before joining McKinsey, Stéphane was a research assistant at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. His fields of interest included information technology management as well as business games as a practice-based educational approach. Stéphane gained a bachelor in Economics and a master in Business Information Technology from the University of Lausanne. During his BA studies, Stéphane spent one year at the University of Michigan Business School, US.
Stephen Rouatt
Stephen Rouatt is an Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Company’s Business Technology Office in London. He joined our firm in October 2007. Stephen has worked in several industries including banking, insurance, telecoms, government, consumer packaged goods, and private equity. He has experience in mature and emerging markets across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
Before joining the Firm, Stephen was a manager in Accenture’s strategy consulting practice where he worked directly with C-level executives. With Accenture, he led small consulting teams responsible for assessing business/IT strategic alignment, governance/organizational redesigns, and assessing outsourcing opportunities.
Stephen has a master’s and a bachelor’s degree in engineering and entrepreneurship from the University of Toronto. His master’s thesis involved the assessment of the operating and lending efficiency of a major Canadian banks entire retail branch network. He is fluent in English and French.
Sean Rul
Sean Rul is a Junior Associate in McKinsey & Company's Business Technology Office (BTO) in Brussels, Belgium. He joined the firm in January 2011.
Sean has mainly served financial institutions in Belgium, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. He helped them on various topics, including operations, lean IT, and pricing strategies.
Before joining the firm, Sean was a PhD student in Computer Science and co-founder of a start-up company that sells a microcontroller platform. He also holds a master's degree in Engineering in Computer Science from Ghent University.
In his spare time he renovates his house and enjoys traveling together with his wife.
Thomas Rützel
Thomas Rützel is a Fellow Senior Associate in McKinsey & Company's Business Technology Office (BTO) in Hamburg, Germany. He joined McKinsey in May 2010.
Since joining McKinsey, he has served clients in several functions, mainly in the advanced industries and the financial sector. His recent engagements include post-merger integration, replacement of a core banking system, and transformation programs.
Prior to joining McKinsey in 2010, Thomas got to know the firm during an internship in 2008. He has studied Physics at the University of Hamburg with a focus on quantum optics. In his spare time, Thomas likes to play volleyball and tennis.
Maya Schmid
Maya Schmid is a Recruiting Coordinator for McKinsey & Company’s Business Technology Office (BTO) in Switzerland and is based in Zurich. Prior to joining McKinsey in April 2000, Maya spent more than seven years with an international bank, the last four as an investment advisor.
In her spare time, she likes horseback riding, traveling, and skiing.
Jiri Venhoda
Jiri Venhoda is an Engagement Manager in McKinsey & Company's Business Technology Office (BTO) in Prague, Czech Republic. Since joining McKinsey in March 2008, his focus has been on IT and operations, company reorganizations, and sales stimulation programs primarily in banking and the telecommunications industry with occasional excursions to other industries, e.g., airlines, printing industry, or container shipping.
Prior to joining McKinsey, Jiri worked at Accenture in the Czech Republic as a technology consultant focusing on large IT projects in the financial sector. Jiri holds a master's degree in Cybernetics from the University of Technology in Brno, Czech Republic. During his course of study he worked or studied at Technion – the Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel and at the Technical University in Tampere, Finland. Jiri has a passion for traveling, mountain tourism, pool billiards, and long walks in wild nature with his dog.
Tanja Volland
Tanja Volland is a Recruiter for McKinsey & Company’s Business Technology Office (BTO) in Frankfurt, Germany. In 2007, Tanja transferred for two years to McKinsey’s Dubai office, where she helped establish the newly founded BTO and supervised the local recruiting team. She returned to Frankfurt in August 2009.
Before joining McKinsey, Tanja worked several years in the travel industry.
In her spare time, Tanja enjoys relaxing with yoga or doing cultural activities such as going to the cinema, theater, and concerts. She loves to cook – an Arabic cookbook bursting with recipes from Dubai is waiting to be tested – and is passionate about visiting foreign countries.
Jan-Oliver Kliemann
Jan-Oliver Kliemann is a Fellow Senior Associate in McKinsey & Company's Business Technology Office (BTO) in Germany. He joined McKinsey's Berlin office in March 2006 and transferred to the Hamburg office in April 2008.
Jan-Oliver has served several clients in very different industries, ranging from financial institutions over high-tech clients to the steel industry in Germany and the USA. Before joining McKinsey, Jan-Oliver studied the magnetosphere using several ESA and NASA satellite systems. He has obtained a diploma in Physics from the Technische Universität Braunschweig, Germany, and a master's degree in Earth and Space Sciences from the University of California, Los Angeles, USA, and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Helmut Schmidt Universität of the Armed Forces in Hamburg. In his spare time, he likes to play beach volleyball and go sailing.
Christian Stüer
Christian Stüer is a Fellow Senior Associate in McKinsey & Company's Business Technology Office (BTO) in Munich, Germany. He joined McKinsey in July 2008.
Christian has served clients in various industries, from high-tech companies to clients in the insurance industry. Before joining McKinsey, Christian studied Business Information Systems in Regensburg, Germany, and Malaga, Spain.
Currently, Christian is on his educational leave of absence pursuing an MBA at the IESE University in Barcelona, Spain. In his spare time, he loves to capture the world with his camera, discover the underwater world, and explore new interests (currently: learning Salsa).
